If you move enough times then you will eventually have a moving nightmare of your own. There are certainly some ways to cut down on the odds of this happening but this page is primarily devoted to gruesome details and moving disasters. If you would like to avoid having problems with your move then you might want to visit our moving tips page. You can also work your way through the rest of the site by using the directory on the left hand side of the page. At the bottom of this page you will find a form that you can fill out in order to send us your own stories. We don't guarantee that we will publish every moving disaster story that is submitted to us but if we find that your moving nightmare is funny, entertaining ore useful then we will probably add it to this collection.

What can go wrong with a move? Well, you name it! Moving in the middle of august, you wouldn't think that we would run into that much trouble with the weather. The 3 days prior to moving day had been warm and sunny. The day of our move was a completely different story. It poured rain from 6 in the morning until all through the night... and we were moving all through the night. My husband decided to not rent the appliance dolly because he 'had one that was just fine'. The dolly broke on the first appliance and he decided to just wing-it and muscle the appliances to the moving van. The clothes dryer made it on the load but that was the last appliance he would touch all day because his back gave out. When we finally got the truck all loaded up it was almost night time already. That's when we discovered that the windshield wipers did not work on the truck. So, we went down to the moving truck rental place only to discover that we had missed them by 5 minutes. So we went to the auto parts store and had a very nice sales clerk replace our wipers. It was a 3 hour drive to our new location. By the time we got everything unloaded it was 3am. Next time we will be using a professional mover!
