You should at least rent a solid and sturdy dolly and opt for as many moving blankets as you will need to cover sensitive items. Keep in mind that when you return your rental truck you will need to return it in the same condition as it was in when you picked it up. They usually expect the truck to be returned with a full tank of gas and the trailer to be swept out. You should also fold and stack the blankets neatly. They will generally charge you extra if you do not take care to return the truck and moving equipment in good form.

Make a point to reserve your moving equipment as early as possible. The end of the month and weekends are especially busy times for moving truck rental companies. It may be difficult to get a reservation if you wait until the last minute.
